Riikka Palonen is a barefoot forest girl from Finland. She spent 10 years in the capital Helsinki, but after getting her  Master of Arts degree she returned to her home village called Köyliö. For more than 20 years, she worked as a modern highland drover, working as an importer and breeder of highland cattle, and along the way she told stories to her customers in her own small farmside restaurant. Stories have always been in her pocket, she was a shy and retreating child and learned to read when she was four, and ever since then, stories have been her refuge in this strange and busy world. Cattle were passed into junior hands some years ago, and stories and art are now her whole life. She is at her best at twilight zone – both in her forests and in her stories and art – but on the other hand she is mischievous and untamed, just as fairies tend to be.
