Baba-C, GMS – the DMV’s foremost interactive Griot/Master Storyteller, a native Washington, DC (Washington, DC USA), has been described as a “Creative force of Nature.” Ambassador, mentor, father, educator, motivator, community activist with a career spanning over four decades. Baba-C’s accomplishments include: Extensions of Creative Expressions Literary Workshops, Tomorrow’s Voices Apprentice & Leadership Workshops, and co-founder of a private school (Academy for Ideal Education).  Griot/MC for the 4 & 5th African Griot Book Fair, community activist and Youth/Youth at Risk/LGBTQ/Human Rights Advocate.

Utilizing stories, rhymes, rhythms chants, songs, and narratives to immerse audiences into the stories, Baba-C, often dressing participants in traditional African attire, fully engaging the audience into the experience.  With the global challenges of Covid-19, Baba-C continues to adapt his brand of storytelling through social media. Enter ZOOM performances: Kids Culture & Camp, The Rebirth of the Griot, The World Storytelling Café, and ST. Elizabeth Hospital Writing Workshop Series. Reinstating Baba-C as “The Griot heard around the world!” An honorary title held prior the world wide web, when Baba-C was experienced in over fifty countries via a special Voice of America TV/Radio simulcast.
