Christine has been telling stories for over 30 years, to people of all ages and abilities, in schools, performance spaces, theatres, libraries, museums, stately homes and at festivals all over the world. Her repertoire is drawn from Wales where she lives, from Ireland and Europe, together with an abundance of tales from the many places she has
visited around the world.
In the 1980s, she was Creator/Director/Performer of “Bookbug” a travelling bookshop for families, visiting schools, arts centres, libraries, galleries etc.
She makes an annual winter trip to Australia and has presented workshops for Storytelling Australia at the Art Gallery in Ballarat. She has also toured schools in Metropolitan Brisbane for the Arts Council of Queensland.
She is a regular at Glastonbury Festival, where she tells as part of the team in the Kidz field and she also programmes storytellers in the Earth Lodge in the Green Futures field.
She was a storyteller in residence in Bridgend CBC, working with parents and children in family learning units attached to primary schools in the county. Her brief here was to empower parents to work with their children to create stories in both the oral and written tradition using the skills of the traditional storyteller to inspire creative writing and story creation.
The History Press published her “ Pembrokeshire Folk Tales”, which she also illustrated. In addition, they published An Introduction to Storytelling which she produced, gathering stories and anecdotes, together with tips and useful strategies for telling tales, from yarn spinners and mythmakers all over the world.
In 2014 and 2015 she gave regular storytelling workshops as part of the beyond the Border/NIACE “Sharing Stories Sharing Understanding” project in Swansea where she worked with Refugees and Asylum Seekers, to aid the learning of language and help to build confidence.
She has also worked with Syrian refugees in Pembrokeshire to enrich and enable language teaching through the colour, vibrancy and repetition of stories.
